How to begin…… …honestly, this probably was my favorite wedding to shoot the past two years.  During the day, there was action, drama, romance, comedy…you name it, it was in Paul and Mary’s wedding/reception.  Though I have never done it but have seen it, their wedding reminded me of a Tough Mudder event – both of them having to go through all these obstacles throughout the day to finally get where they wanted to be, and in the end the most important thing was they were happy.  There are things that test everyone at every wedding, but in the end the most important thing is you married the one you love, and that’s what happened with Paul and Mary, they got married and they have people that truly care about them.  Everything else is a story for down the road.

Though I was only the photographer for the wedding, I would like to thank the cool people at the end of the day for bringing so many smiles to Paul and Mary’s face…oh and by the way, I can thank anyone I want because this is my freaking blog :) .  I’m not talking about the gang of people that walked in soaking wet with orange towels on their heads after they came back from the pool, LOL!  I’m talking about the ones that stayed and told some hilarious stories about Paul and Mary, including Paul and Mary themselves.

There’s a quote that goes:

“There are still some wonderful people left in this world!  They are diamonds in the rough, but they’re around!  You’ll find them when you fall down – they’re the ones who pick you up, who don’t judge, and you have to fall down to see them.  When you get up again, remember who your true friends are!” ~ C. Jobell C.

The people at the end of the day in their suite remind me of this quote.  Best wishes to the best bride and groom I’ve had the pleasure to work in the last two years!  More photos to be uploaded daily!

I was waiting @ the Las Vegas Sign with Elvis (yes Elvis is alive and comes in many shapes and colors!) when we both saw a bride and groom all dolled up walking towards us.  The first thing both Elvis and I thought was “No way could this be Jackie and Dustin”, as we were expecting a couple in t-shirts and shorts.  But in fact it was Jackie and Dustin!  We were stoked, at least I was because when a bride and groom dress up for their renewal, they’re alway fun to shoot!!!  Both of them really enjoyed the renewal ceremony and I got to take a ton of photos of them including with Mario and Luigi and even Jack Sparrow!  What I loved about them was they were so laid back and were up for trying anything, and I even got them @ the fountain @ The Forom Shops @ Caesars Palace (you’ll see in the photos below!  They were a great fun couple to work with :)

As always, additional photos will be uploaded daily as they are completed.  Enjoy!

Keith and Karina had their wedding at Rhodes Ranch Golf Course, a wonderful location for a wedding.  It was an intimate wedding…everyone seemed to know each other very well.  They had a cellist (Jeremy Russo) and violinist and their wedding officiant was Wanda Tracey who was absolutely great.  Justine Jackson who is the wedding consultant @ Rhodes Ranch Golf Course was very accommodating with any/all requests by the bride and groom.  Throughout the day, the wind was a major concern and also because of cloudy skies, I thought it may be one of the two days it rains here in Vegas, but luckily it did not.

Photos will be added as they are completed. Enjoy and congratulations to both Keith and Karina!

Matt & Brenda – March 23, 2013 from Michael Perez on Vimeo.

Matt and Brenda got married @ A Special Memory Chapel. I didn’t do the photography during their ceremony inside the chapel as the chapel wouldn’t allow it, but I did get to do some after wedding photos around the chapel and then got more photographs during their reception.

Matt at the time was scheduled to be shipped out 2 weeks after their wedding. The speeches given were during their reception were extremely emotional and had many people in tears..even I almost started crying.

Wish both of them the best and hope Matt is safe where-ever he’s stationed. An amazing couple, I wish I had a little more time with them so I could’ve gotten more than just candids.

Larry and Pearl got married @ The Wedding Room. I had thought I had photographed a wedding here in the past but I obviously had not. I actually went to a venue about two blocks up the street thinking that’s where they were getting married. Lucky for me, I was so early at the wrong location, I arrived with plenty of time to spare @ The Wedding Room.

Larry and his daughter Bailey were the only two people @ The Wedding Room when I arrived, but the Tim Rowland the minister showed up right after I did. It was good to work with Tim again as I have worked with him a few hundred times, so I knew the ceremony would go smoothly. This ceremony was much different from the wedding I did the day before (of which I am still editing images as there are thousands of them) as it ended in about 10 minutes.

A great couple who’s kids have been wanting for them to tie the knot for years. The wedding/reception was small and intimate, nothing overboard which was nice.

I did Kevin’s and Jessica’s engagement photos about a year ago I think and I was lucky enough to photograph their wedding.  The wedding and reception was entirely in spanish, and though my last name is Perez, I hardly speak a word of it.  The videographer that was working the wedding/reception didn’t speak it either, so for the first time in a while, I was a little nervous during the ceremony as I didn’t know what the minister was saying, LOL!  It turned out to be ok, I ended up bugging several people during the ceremony to let me know when/what was going on.

Jessica was absolutely beautiful in her wedding gown, and if I were into guys, I think I would’ve been into Kevin!  Ha, just kidding!  The bridal party was great and overall, the wedding/ceremony went off without a hitch.  Congrats to both of them :) …..photos will be added to this posting as I get to them!

I just started my business page back up for my photography business on Facebook.  I had taken it down a year ago because I was actually thinking of moving into a different field, but instead decided to tackle both fields.

Thought I would drive some traffic to it by advertising, but I guess the monitors at Facebook thought the current images I have up are too pornographic and sent me the below rejection email, LOL!

I suppose the girls I do take photos of could wear just a tiny bit more clothing :)

Wow, it’s been almost two weeks since I last posted anything on my blog.  For all 3 of  my subscribers, I apologize, LOL!

November 2, 2012…One year and 17 days after their original wedding date, my hairy nephew Christopher and his lovely wife Laura decided to do a renewal Las Vegas Sign/Elvis style!  It was actually the day everyone started to filter into Las Vegas for a big family get together.  We all met up @ the sign around 2pm.  His parents, Robert and Marlene (my sister) Douglas, Mrs. Douglas (Christopher’s grandmother on his father’s side who I thought was from Jamaica (because I’m a moron) but was actually from Trinidad), Alex (Chris’ brother) and his girlfriend Jen, and my dad were in attendance.

Best Elvis impersonator Kent Ripley was there.  If you’ve never seen him, he’s more of a super mini-sized skinny Elvis but he can damn well play the guitar and sounds just like Elvis!  Photos up above and the video below.  I walked in front of the camera a few times because well again I’m a moron.

Really great to see the family again, it’s been a while :)  For more interesting tidbits of my favorite nephew who’s name is Christopher or actually for everything on Creighton Basketball and food from around the world, visit his web site @ ChrisDouglasExperience.com!

Violetta and Robert Wedding

Haven’t done a wedding at the Las Vegas sign since around April of this year (due to the heat), but did one yesterday with a great looking couple.  Yvonne and Mark got hitched under the Las Vegas Sign @ around 10am and boy it was incredibly hot but you couldn’t tell by looking at them :)  After we took a few photographs in front of the Las Vegas sign on the more popular side, we went to the back side of the sign as there were a ton of tourists and took some great photographs from behind and across the street where it was shaded.  Where ever I took photos of these two, they naturally came out great :)  Will be putting up their engagement photo session in about 2 weeks (yes, I’m doing it backwards).

Congrats to Yvonne and Mark :)

Robert and Violetta got married today @ Little White Chapel in Las Vegas.  They decided to pass on the photos taken @ the chapel and hire me to do their photo shoot instead.  We would do the Bellagio-Ceasars Palace-Venetian run, a run that I have never completed with a couple because usually by the time we get to Ceasars Palace, the groom (so far it’s always been the groom, lol) can not believe how many photos are going to be taken, lol!

They arrived all decked out in a tuxedo and this little bubble dress that Violetta had made herself that just looked fabulous.  I met them right inside of Bellagio and we headed on back to the area where the Bellagio wedding chapel was actually located because there was a really nice area to shoot there, just hoping security would not catch on.  FYI, it is frowned upon by all hotels to have professional photographers taking photos their locations.  It’s a long debate and it’s not only in Las Vegas, it’s pretty much everywhere I’ve lived and worked as a photographer.  In any case, we did get the photographs I wanted to take as seen below:

Where was I?  Oh, I found out that they had made an agreement regarding wedding photos, that the entire session would be done in 3 hours.  Bellagio/Ceasars/Venetian and everything else in between?!?  I wasn’t too sure about the time frame – plus the fact that they also added a shoot in front of the Vegas Sign and in front of the Luxor, LOL!

We did actually make it near the end, almost without a hitch, but it was such a tiny hitch that I was actually really proud of both of them for being able to hang in there. .  I knew the heat would get to them as they were originally from Chicago.  It pretty much hit them right when we got outside of Bellagio.  In any case, more photos will be added later today today (it’s 1:17am here on the west coast).  I know I say this a lot but I guess I’m lucky but Violetta and Robert were a great couple to work with and I wish them nothing but the best!
